Spending time outside in the sun is an important part of summer, but after years of continued sun exposure our skin can take on high amounts of sun damage. If you’re tired of dealing with the visible side effects of sun damage, we’ve got the solution for you.
What is Sun Damage?
Photoaging, or sun damage, is the process by which ultraviolet rays from the sun absorb into and damage the cells that make up our skin. The range of damage observed on the skin can vary significantly due to location, daily UV levels, temperature and repeated exposure. These variables can affect the intensity of the sun damage taken on, resulting in a range of consequences. Some of these side effects may appear as freckling and sun spots, increased signs of aging such as leathery or sagging skin, and even skin cancer. Not only does photoaging damage our skin and cells, but it rapidly increases the visible aging process.
Can Sun Damage be Fixed?
Sun damage can luckily be treated to reduce the look of aging. Our photofacial features a Clarity Lutronic laser to effectively erase visible sun damage such as irregular pigmentation, brown spots, freckles and loose, wrinkled skin. IPL technology allows our trained staff to pulse beams of concentrated light into the skin, making micro-tears that cause an increase in collagen production. Collagen is the essential protein that makes our skin look healthy and plump, and as we age, and take on sun damage, its ability to regenerate becomes less and less. With each session, the Photofacial restores smooth, youthful looking skin to take years off your appearance. If you struggle with sun damage, pigmentation issues, rosacea, redness or veins – you’re the ideal candidate for a photofacial!
